The Office of Safe & Drug Free Schools & Communities sponsors a number of initiatives designed to prevent violence and alcohol or other drug use.
We emphasize programs that are research based, validated, and build developmental assets to foster resilient young people.

The Office of Safe & Drug Free Schools & Communities is funded by the U.S. Department of Education
through the Colorado Department of Education.
Each school in the district is entitled to funds annually for prevention education and intervention programs.
The purpose of the Office of Safe & Drug Free Schools & Communities is to provide programs and services to assist schools with:
- Substance use and abuse prevention education,
- Violence prevention education,
- Promoting school safety,
- Creating a disciplined learning environment.
The primary approach to prevention education promoted by the Office of Safe & Drug Free Schools & Communities is proactive, facilitating students in developing internal and external assets.
